I love coconut, packs of orange slices, dates, and pecans. Have to admit the first time I ate this cake was the first time I had cooked with orange slices.

Ingredients

  • 1 c
    butter or margarine
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 c
    buttermilk
  • 3 1/2 c
    flour
  • 1 pkg
    chopped dates
  • 4
    eggs
  • 1 tsp
    soda
  • 2 c
    pecans, chopped
  • 1 pkg
    orange slices, chopped
  • 1 can(s)
    or 1/2 bag of coconut
  • GLAZE

  • 2 c
    10x confectioner's sugar
  • 1/2 c
    orange juice
  • 2 Tbsp
    orange rind

How to Make Orange Slice Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Combine butter, sugar, buttermilk, eggs, soda in large mixing bowl. Add flour slowly blending in well.
  2. Add dates, pecans, orange slices, and coconut.
  3. Bake 2 hours in tube pan at 250. When you take it out of the oven, while hot pour glaze over it.
  4. Glaze: in saucepan combine orange juice, rind, and confectioner's sugar and bring to boil. Pouring it on hot cake. Serve hot or cold. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
