I love Orange Slice Candy. So why not make a cake out of it. This is such a good cake. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Cathy for the photo.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound orange candy slices [cut up]
  • 1 can coconut, flaked
  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  • 8 ounces chopped dates
  • 2 boxes orange jello
  • 1 cup margarine or butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • FROSTING
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

How To Make orange slice cake

  • Step 1
    Line the bottom of a large tube pan with greased waxed paper, Do not grease the sides of the pan.
  • Step 2
    Sift three cups of flour with soda, salt, and jello. Cream butter, Add sugar and cream well. Add eggs, one at a time. Alternate sifted flour with milk. Add nuts, coconut, and dates. Use the remaining 1/2 cup of flour to coat the cut up orange candy slices. Fold the candy in last with as little mixing as possible to keep the candy from settling. Bake in a large tube pan at 250 degrees for 3 hours, Do not remove from pan. Pour a mixture of the frosting over the cake while it is still hot, let set in pan until cold.
