Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
  • LEMON SYRUP
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar, sifted

How To Make orange butter cake with lemon syrup

  • Step 1
    Cream butter and sugar; beat in eggs, one at a time.
  • Step 2
    Sift dry ingredients together; add alternately with remaining ingredients.
  • Step 3
    DO NOT POUR ORANGE JUICE AND MILK INTO THE SAME CUP!
  • Step 4
    Pour batter into baking pan. Bake at 350° for about 35 minutes. Cool in pan for 5 minutes before removing from pan.
  • Step 5
    Mix together lemon peel, orange peel, lemon juice, and orange juice. Blend in confectioners' sugar.
  • Step 6
    Drizzle over orange butter cake.
