one bowl chocolate cake

My friend, Patty, gave me this recipe and I use it over and over. I just have never found a better chocolate cake recipe! I double the recipe and cook it in a full sized restaurant pan 2" deep for a crowd! My friends at church love this cake!

Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup hershey's cocoa
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup oil
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 - eggs
- 1 cup hot tap water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- FROSTING:
- 1 stick butter
- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 6 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 pound box of confectioner's sugar
- 1 cup pecans, in pieces
How To Make one bowl chocolate cake

Step 1For cake, mix dry ingredients, then add eggs, oil and buttermilk. Mix with spoon until smooth. Add hot water and vanilla. Mix well and pour into 9X13 baking pan that has been sprayed with pan release spray.

Step 2Bake at 350 degrees for 35-38 min. Remove from oven to cool and ice while hot.

Step 3To make icing...Place butter, cocoa, and milk in medium saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring so it won't burn on bottom of pan. Remove from heat and add a one pound box of confectioner's sugar. Add 1 tsp. of vanilla and beat well. Add pecans, then pour over warm cake. Icing will harden like fudge as it cools.
