How to Make old time red velvet cake
- cream shortening , sugar and egg.
make paste of the coloring and the cocoa and add to the mixture.
add flour,salt,milk and vanilla, beating with mixer
by hand fold in vingar and soda.
bake in 3-8" pans- bake at 350 for 30 min.
let cool before icing.
i like this cake cooled and it can be frozen.
- cream cheese icing:
2 3oz package cream cheese , softened
2 stisk butter , softened
2 tbsp vanilla extract
4 cups sifted confectioners suger
In mixer combine cream cheese and butter mix until smooth. add vanilla and slowly beat in sugar until smooth.
you can add nuts.
