This recipe is a very old recipe,it was found in a 1951 copy of Home and Gardens. My family enjoyed this incredibly. Since my daughter likes both cream cheese frosting and fudge frosting I used both.

Ingredients For old time fudge brownies

  • 1 c
    shortening, butter flavor
  • 4 oz
    one oz. squares of unsweetened baking chocolate.
  • 1 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 4
    eggs
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla extract

How To Make old time fudge brownies

    In double boiler melt shortening and chocolate. Set aside to cool.

    In a seperate bowl sift together flour, salt, and baking powder.

    In a mixing bowl beat eggs until light in color. Add sugar. Then add chocolate mix and blend. Add flour and vanilla. Mix well. Pour batter into well greased cake pan. bake for 30-35 mins. Cool completely and cut into squares.
