I sent for this cookbook many years ago.It was on the radio on a cook show. I have made this a few times.This is one of my husbands favorites.

Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup seedless raisins
- 1/2 cup salad oil
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 - egg,lightly beaten
- 1 3/4 cups sifted flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon ground alspice
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
How To Make old fashioned spice squares

Step 1Combine water and raisins.Bring to boil,remove from heat and stir in salad oil. Cool to lukewarm.

Step 2Add sugar and egg.

Step 3Sift dry ingredients together and beat into raisin mixture.Add nuts.

Step 4Pour into greased 13x9 pan and bake in 375 oven for 25 minutes.

Step 5When cool,cut into squares.Frost with butter frosting.
