This was a recipe handed down to me by my "ex" boyfriends mom. She gave it to me & told me as long as I was with her son I could never give it out. Haha I'm not with him anymore so "hahaha" to bad,I'm posting lol...

Ingredients

  • 3 c
    cake flour
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    nutmeg
  • 3/4 Tbsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/4 Tbsp
    cloves
  • 3/4 c
    butter, room temperature
  • 2
    egg yolks
  • 3/4 c
    prunes,mashed
  • 3/4 c
    prune juice
  • 3 Tbsp
    baking soda

How to Make Oh So Sad Prune Cake....

Step-by-Step

  1. Heat oven to 350F. Lightly grease & flour cake pan.
  2. Sift together the first 5 ingredients in a large bowl.
  3. In a small bowl dissoivle the baking soda in the prune juice.
  4. In a medium bowl cream the butter with the egg yolks & then add it to the large bowl.
  5. Then add in the prune juice mixture, add in the mashed prunes to the large bowl & mix well.
  6. Pour into the cake pan. Bake for 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Let cool for 10 mins.
  7. Remove from pan, cool fully & frost with "Prune Frosting".
