Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup uncooked oatmeal
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine (softened)
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking cocoa
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package chocolate chips 12 oz. (divided)
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts

How To Make oatmeal chocolate chip cake

  • Step 1
    In a mixing bowl, pour boiling water over oats. Allow to stand for 10 minutes.
  • Step 2
    Add sugar and butter to oat mixture stirring until butter melts.
  • Step 3
    Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Step 4
    Sift flour, cocoa, ans salt together. Add to batter. mix Well.
  • Step 5
    Stir in half of chocolate chips. Pour into 13-9-2in pan. sprinkle top with chopped walnuts and remaining chocolate chips. Bake at 350 for 40 min.
