oatmeal cake

I first made this cake when I was about 10 yrs old. It won me a blue ribbon at the 4-h fair. I was so proud. It's a very easy but tasty cake. Hope you enjoy.

Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups boiling water
- 1 cup quick cooking oats
- 2 sticks butter
- 2 - eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 1/3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- ICING
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 stick butter
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
How To Make oatmeal cake

Step 1Place oatmeal in mixing bowl with 1 stick of butter. Pour boiling water over oatmeal cover and let sit for 20 min.

Step 2Add flour,soda,cinnamon and salt together set aside.

Step 3Cream 1 stick of butter,sugar together add eggs one at a time beat till fluffy. Add oatmeal mix well.Add dry ingedents mix well.

Step 4Pour in a greased 13x9 in pan. Bake for 30 to 45 min at 350 degress.

Step 5In a saucepan mix 1/2 stick of butter, sugar, brown sugar and evaporated milk bring to a boil. Remove from heat add coconut and pecans. Mix well.

Step 6Take cake from oven while still warm spread on icing carefully. But in oven under broil till lightly browned on top. Cool Enjoy
