My daughter Noel and her six year old daughter Evie made this for dessert tonight...(6-22-11) it is so good... and very easy...

Evie noticed that the strawberry slices looked like a heart and she put it on top of the whipped cream.

How to Make Noel and Evie's Strawberry Shortcake

Step-by-Step

  1. Wash, drain, hull and slice the strawberries. Put some in a bowl and mash with a potato masher along with the sugar and water.

Add remaining sliced strawberries and refrigerate for at least an hour.
  2. Either have a home baked pound cake or a store bought pound cake on hand. Cut it into 1/2 inch to 1 inch thick slices.

On each plate put a slice of pound cake.
  3. Spoon some strawberries and juice over the pound cake.

*** At this point decide if you want to add another slice of pound cake and more strawberries ***
  4. Add whip cream on top of the strawberries.

*** Garnish with a sliced strawberry or a whole strawberry
    ***
  5. Serve this up to your family and friends... and expect big smiles!
  6. Besides putting two layers of this together....

Place the slices of cake in a 9x13 inch pan. Cover with Cool Whip. Cover Cool Whip with Strawberries and top with more Cool Whip. Cut into squares or let people spoon it out pot luck style.
