This recipe came from an old cookbook my Mom often used. I have always loved to bake and cook, and this is a tried and true favorite. It is wonderful for dessert or as a coffe cake.

Ingredients

1 cup sugar
1 cup all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
3 cups apples, chopped
1 - egg, beaten
3 tablespoons melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
- whipped topping or whipped cream

How To Make nobby apple cake

Step 1

Sift first 5 ingredients into large bowl. Make well in center of mixture.

Step 2

Add remaining ingredients. Mix thoroghly and pour into a greased 9x9 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. This cake will be very moist. Serve with whipped topping or whipped cream (optional).
Step 3

Note: You can double this recipe and bake it in a 13 x 9 inch pan. You may need to increase the baking time to ensure the middle of the cake is done.
