This was my Nana's pound cake recipe. If we were lucky there would be some left to have toasted with butter.

Ingredients

3 c
sugar
2 stick
butter
1/4 c
vegetable shortening
4
eggs
1 c
milk
1 tsp
vanilla extract
1 tsp
almond extract
3 c
cake flour unsifted

How to Make Nana's Pound Cake

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cream butter and shortening.
    Add sugar and cream together.
    Add eggs one at a time.
    Mix thoroughly after each egg.
    Add milk, flour and flavorings.
    Mix together.
  • 2Set oven at 300 degrees, do not preheat oven.
    Bake 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes
  • 3You can substitute margine for butter but tastes better with real butter.
  • 4My daughter and Nana always use a bunt pan. A couple of loaf pans would work also.
