This has been a long time favorite in my family. (it was my Nana's recipe) the original recipe called for 2 big handfuls of berries !

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1 stick
    butter (softened)
  • CAKE

  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 3/4 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1 stick
    butter (softened)
  • 1 large
    egg (room temp)
  • 4 Tbsp
    sour cream
  • 3 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbsp
    lemon juice
  • 1 pt
    fresh blueberries ( remove any unripened) or 1 1/2 c frozen

How to Make Nana Wolfe's Blueberry Coffeecake

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven 375
  2. beat together topping ingredients til smooth & creamy, set aside.
  3. mix all cake ing. except lemon juice & berries.
    mix till smooth (do not overbeat)
  4. add in lemon juice, mix well
  5. fold in berries
  6. pour into GREASED & FLOURED pan (9x9 sq, 9" round or 7 x 11 pan ( I like using the 7 x 11 pan)
  7. bake at 375 for 25 minutes, remove from oven, spread topping mix gently over entire cake ( it will melt )
    return to oven & continue baking for 25 more minutes.
    can be served warm or cold & can be glazed if so desired.
