This is my basic rum cake recipe that originally uses Captain Morgan spiced rum. But with all the new flavors of rum that have appeared over the last few years, I can't help but to experiement! I have made this with Coconut rum and Strawberry rum so far. Enjoy with your favorite!

vanilla instant pudding (3.4 oz)

How to Make Name Your Flavor Rum Cake


  • 1Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour 10" budnt pan and spread walnuts on bottom of pan.
  • 2Combine cake mix and pudding. Add eggs, water, vegetable oil, and rum. Blend on medium speed for 2 minutes.
  • 3Pour batter in bundt pan and bake for 60 minutes or until done. (Test with toothpick.)
  • 4Let cool in pan for about 10 minutes and flip over to cake plate.
  • 5For the glaze: Combined butter, water, and sugar in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil and continue for about 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in the remaining rum.
  • 6Brush the glaze all over the warm cake until it is all soaked in and used.
