Ingredients
- - 11/2 cups water
- - 1 cup quick oats
- - 1/2-1 cup butter or margarine
- - 1 cup brown sugar
- - 1 cup white sugar
- - 2 well beaten eggs
- - 1 1/3 cups flour
- - 1 tsp. baking soda
- - 1 tsp. cinnamon
- - 1/2 tsp. salt
- FROASTING
- - 1 tsp. melted butter or margarine
- - 1/2 cup canned cream or 1/2 cup canned milk
- - 1 tsp. vanilla
- - 1 cup brown sugar
How To Make my mom's oatmeal cake

Step 1Bring water to a boil add quick oats. Let stand 15 minutes.

Step 2Cream together 1/2 cup butter or margarine, brown sugar, white sugar, and 2 well beaten eggs. Mix with oatmeal.

Step 3Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt. Add to mix and beat well.

Step 4Pour into a 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Bake 350 for 30 to 35 minutes.

Step 5FOR FROSTING: Mix together melted butter or margarine, canned cream /milk, vanilla and brown sugar.

Step 6Spread on cake and brown in the oven for a few minutes. You can add coconut or raisins on top.
