This recipe was given to my mother 42 yrs ago while she was in the hospital sharing a room with a lady. We never found out the name of the cake, so we always just called it "Mrs.Woody's" pound cake since that was the name of the lady that shared it with my mother.

Ingredients

  • 2 stick
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    crisco
  • 3 c
    sugar
  • 6 large
    eggs
  • 4 c
    plain flour
  • 1/4 tsp
    baking powder
  • dash(es)
    salt
  • 1 cup + 2 Tbsp
    milk
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp
    lemon extract
  • 2 tsp
    orange flavoring

How to Make Mrs. Woody's Pound Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Cream Crisco,sugar & butter
  2. add eggs one at a time
    sift flour, baking powder, & salt together
    starting with flour add alternately with milk ending with flour
    add flavorings
    Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour. I have to bake mine for at least 1 hr. & 30 min. (until it looks done on top)
