mother's miracle pound cake
My Grandmother was well known in South Georgia for her delicious cakes. This was one of her pound cake recipes. Now that Granny is no longer with us, her daughters and granddaughters are continuing her tradition.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening, (crisco is preferred brand)
- 2 sticks unsalted butter
- 3 cups granulated sugar
- 4 - eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 3 cups cake flour (swan's down is preferred)
- 1 teaspoon lemon flavoring
- 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
How To Make mother's miracle pound cake

Step 1Cream margarine and Crisco together. Add sugar & cream together. Add eggs one at a time, then add milk, flour and flavoring.

Step 2Pour into greased and floured tube pan.

Step 3Set oven to 325 degrees. Do NOT preheat oven. Bake approximately 1 hour to 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Step 4Allow to cool 10 minutes before removing from pan. This is a "crusty" yet very moist cake. Enjoy!
