Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon each: cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves & allspice
- 1 1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce
- 2 - eggs
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 2 tablespoons sugar
How To Make mother's applesauce cake

Step 1Sift dry ingredients. Drop in: 1/2 cup shortening. Mix. Add 2/3 of 1 1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce. Beat. Add eggs. Add remaining applesauce.

Step 2Fold in raisins & nuts. Pour into greased rube or rectangle pan. Sprinkle top with sugar.

Step 3Bake at 350 degrees 35-45 minutes, until inserted toothpick comes out dry.
