How to Make Monkey Cake
- For monkey head, use 1 cake mix, Greese pan well, put all the extra additions in the dry mix and then mix according to directions. Make cupcakes with the other mix. And set one aside for monkey ears. cut one cupcake in half and secure onto sides of cake with toothpics. I always make cupcakes to go with the cake and decorate in a similar fashion, but on smaller scale.
- For the frosting, I use the star tip and start by making the shape of the mouth and the inner ears, then finish with the rest of the cake using the star tip, put malted milk balls around the base and use the licorace strings for mouth nose and hair.
- NOTE: I always bake my cakes at 325 and allow them to cool completely before frosting them.
