Ingredients

  • 1 package butter cake mix, divided [we use duncan hines]
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 cup pecans or walnuts, finely chopped
  • 4 - eggs
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 OR 2 tablespoons milk

How To Make mom's sock-it-to-me coffee-cake

  • Step 1
    PREHEAT OVEN TO 375 DEGREES
  • Step 2
    GREASE AND FLOUR A 10 INCH TUBE PAN OR BUNDT PAN.
  • Step 3
    STREUSEL FILLING:
  • Step 4
    COMINE 2 TBSP. CAKE MIX, BROWN SUGAR AND CINNAMON... STIR IN NUTS... SET ASIDE
  • Step 5
    CAKE:

    MIX CAKE MIX, EGGS, SOUR CREAM, OIL, WATER AND GRANULATED SUGAR IN A BOWL.
  • Step 7
    BEAT AT MEDIUM SPEED FOR 2 MINUTES.
  • Step 8
    POUR TWO-THIRDS OF BATTER INTO PAN.
  • Step 9
    SPRINKLE STREUSEL FILLING NOW OVER THE BATTER.
  • Step 10
    SPOON REMAINING BATTER EVENLY OVER THE FILLING.
  • Step 11
    BAKE FOR 45-55 MINUTES OR UNTIL A TOOTHPICK INSERTED IN CENTER COMES OUT CLEAN.
  • Step 12
    COOL IN PAN 20 MINUTES; INVERT ONTO SERVING PLATE. COOL COMPLETELY.

    GLAZE:

    COMBINE CONF.SUGAR AND MILK IN A BOWL. STIR UNTIL SMOOTH. DRIZZLE OVER CAKE.
