mom's milky way cake
Mom made this as far back as I can remember. It was her "go to" cake. I'm not sure why it has this name because there are no Milky Ways in it. Dad didn't care for icing so this was served plain like you would a snack cake. It sure is good with a cold glass of milk!

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup crisco
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 4 tablespoons cocoa
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup boiling water
How To Make mom's milky way cake

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9'x13' baking pan.

Step 2Cream together the crisco, sugar, eggs and vanilla.

Step 3In separate bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa, salt and baking soda.

Step 4Alternately add the flour mixture and the buttermilk to the sugar. Blend well.

Step 5Stir in the boiling water being careful not to splatter.

Step 6Pour into prepared baking pan. Bake 30-35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
