Please note this is a CAKE ... NOT a bread, though it works great in loaves, too ... I actually think it's tastier than most banana breads, and lighter!

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup mashed bananas
- 1/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
How To Make mom's banana cake

Step 1Cream shortening and sugar.

Step 2Add eggs.

Step 3Sift dry ingredients together and add a little at a time. Mix well.

Step 4Add bananas, buttermilk and vanilla

Step 5Bake in cake pans or loaf pans at 350 for 30-35 minutes.
