  • 1 3/4 cups caramel ice cream topping, divided

How To Make milky way oats layer cake

  • Step 1
In a medium jar, combine 1 cup rolled oats, chopped Milky Way bar,1/2 cup caramel syrup, chocolate extract, 1 tablespoon malted milk powder, and chocolate milk. Whisk well with a fork until completely blended.
  • Step 2
Cover and refrigerate for 3 hours.
  • Step 3
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat two 8' round cake pans with cooking spray.
  • Step 4
Divide sliced Milky Way bars between both cake pans.
  • Step 5
In a large bowl, combine cake mix, water, vegetable oil, eggs,1 tablespoon malted milk powder, and remaining caramel syrup; beat on medium speed for 30 seconds.
  • Step 6
Add the Milky Way oat mixture to the cake batter. Beat again on low speed for 3 minutes until blended.
  • Step 7
Pour into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool for 15 minutes.
  • Step 8
Meanwhile, heat the margarine in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add remaining rolled oats and cane sugar. Saute for 5 minutes or until the oats are tender.
  • Step 9
Stir in 3/4 cup caramel ice cream topping and 1 tablespoon malted milk powder. Remove from heat.
  • Step 10
In a medium bowl, combine the heavy whipped cream, half and half, chocolate syrup, cream cheese, and remaining malted milk powder; mix well until blended. Set aside.
  • Step 11
Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spoon remaining caramel ice cream topping onto the cake and spread evenly. Spread the sauteed oat mixture and sprinkle the sliced Milky Way bar over top.
  • Step 12
Place the second cake layer on top and spread the frosting on the top and sides of the cake. Refrigerate for 2 hours before serving.
