Ingredients

  • 2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 c
    milk, which has been scalded and 1 tablespoon butter has been melted into
  • ICING

  • 1/2 c
    butter or margarine
  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 1/2 c
    coconut
  • 3 Tbsp
    evaporated milk
  • 1 c
    chopped nuts
  • 1/2 tsp
    vanilla

How to Make Methodist Preacher Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a medium mixing bowl, sift together flour, sugar and baking powder. Whisk in vanilla and milk mixture. Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 30 minutes.
  2. Melt butter or margarine. Stir in sugar, coconut, milk, nuts and vanilla (this is opt., but I like vanilla!) Spread over hot cake. Broil for about 5 minutes. Serve warm.
