My husband was born in Hawii and his grandparents were Hawaiian This bread pudding recipe comes from his grandparents. It is simple and delicious. It also has been printed in the I-village Solutions Heirloom Recipes Cook Book.

    eggs , beaten
  • 1 c
    firmly packed brown sugar
  • i/2 c
    meelted butter
  • 2 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 1 can(s)
    15 ounce can of crushed pineapple in juice or pine apple chunks
  • 6 slice
    stale bread, cubed or torn
  • 1/4 c
    coconut (optional)

How to Make Menehune Bread Pudding


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. In a large bowl, combine the eggs, sugar, butter, flour, pineapple with its juices and bread cubes or pieces. Mix well
  3. Pour mixture into a 9 inch round dish. Bake until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean, about one hour. that has been
    sprayed with pam
  4. We have always double the recipe and used a 13x 9 inch baking dish. The smaller one just isn't a big enough portion to satisfy everyone's taste buds and they always wants seconds.
