This recipe is from my cousin Melissa. She is a great cook, and I always request this cake at family events!

Ingredients

  • 3 sticks butter (softened)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 6 - eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • ICING:
  • 1 box 10x powdered confectioners sugar
  • 6 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons amaretto

How To Make melissa's cream cheese poundcake

  • Step 1
    Cake: Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  • Step 2
    Combine butter and cream cheese, blend well.
  • Step 3
    Add sugar slowly and mix for 6 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Add eggs one at a time.
  • Step 5
    Add flour, mix slowly while adding.
  • Step 6
    Add vanilla.
  • Step 7
    Pour into greased bunt pan and cook for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  • Step 8
    Icing: Cream butter and cream cheese together.
  • Step 9
    Add powdered sugar and amaretto (or substitute 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. almond extract).
  • Step 10
    Optional-top with slivered almonds.
