  Spread apples in 8x8 pan. Sprinkle cake mix over them and pat down. Pour melted butter over the top and sprinkle with nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 min. Serve with whipped cream of ice cream.

  Note: this recipe was originally Madeleines. I have made it in camp in a box oven, or you could make it in a dutch oven. Since I usually use pop instead of butter, my DO version would add another apple pie filling and a can of pop drizzled over the top of the cake mix then adding the nuts.
