This cake was an inexpensive way for us to have a delicious dessert when I was little. My mother made it frequently. It was always very moist and delicious.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Flou cup self rising flour
  • 1 cup Suga cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp Soda teaspoon baking soda
  • Salt pinch table salt
  • 1 egg fresh egg
  • Fruit fruit cocktail, canned 303
  • 1 tsp tube pure vanilla extract

How To Make margaret's fruit cocktail cake

  • Step 1
    Mix flour sugar, soda, salt and egg in mixing bowl
  • Step 2
    Add one cup drained fruit cocktail
  • Step 3
    Pour into ungreased 9in square pan
  • Step 4
    Mix brown sugar and nuts together and sprinkle over top.
  • Step 5
    Put into a 350 degree oven and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Step 6
    Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
