This cake was an inexpensive way for us to have a delicious dessert when I was little. My mother made it frequently. It was always very moist and delicious.

Ingredients

1 cup Flou cup self rising flour
1 cup Suga cup white sugar
1 tsp Soda teaspoon baking soda
Salt pinch table salt
1 egg fresh egg
Fruit fruit cocktail, canned 303
1 tsp tube pure vanilla extract

How To Make margaret's fruit cocktail cake

Step 1

Mix flour sugar, soda, salt and egg in mixing bowl

Step 2

Add one cup drained fruit cocktail
Step 3

Pour into ungreased 9in square pan
Step 4

Mix brown sugar and nuts together and sprinkle over top.
Step 5

Put into a 350 degree oven and bake for 45 minutes.
Step 6

Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream
