How to Make Maple Syrup (the real stuff) Cocoa Cake
1Butter a 9 inch cake pan and line it with buttered wax paper
2Beat eggs until they are thick and creamy. Beat in sugar
3Mix cocoa, hot water, maple syrup, and oil. blend well , add and beat with mixer into the egg mixture
4sift flour , salt baking powder and baking soda together and add to the batter a little at a time. Stir in the nuts, add the cognac. Pour into prepared pan.
5Make coffee syrup (recipe to follow) pour the syrup over the cake when it is done baking cool, when ready to serve spread whipped cream on top and cut into squares.
