My grandma made this all the time. It's the moistest pound cake I have had. You can also make it vanilla.

  • 1 c
    crisco or oil
  • 2 1/2 c
  • 5
  • 2 1/2 c
  • 1 1/4 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 c
  • 2 tsp
  • 1/4 c
    cocoa, unsweetened

How to Make Lillie Mae's Chocolate Pound Cake


  1. Cream sugar and butter.
  2. Add eggs one at a time. Mix well.
  3. Add vanilla and milk mix well.
  4. Mix flour, baking powder,salt,cocoa.
  5. Alternte mixing dry ingredients into liquid ingredients in a seperate bowl.
  6. If too liquidy add more flour. If too dry add more milk.
  7. Pour into greased and floured tube pan.
  8. Bake at 325 degrees for one hour and 20 minutes till toothpick in center comes out clean.
  9. To make vanilla pound cake omit cocoa.
