Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 - eggs
- 3 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
- - powdered sugar
How To Make lemon pound cake

Step 1Cream shortening and sugar.

Step 2Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition.

Step 3Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt.

Step 4Add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture.

Step 5Add 2 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice and beat with mixer for 2 minutes.

Step 6Bake in tube pan for 1 hour at 300 degrees.

Step 7Add glaze of 2 1/2 tablespoons of lemon juice and enough powdered sugar to spread easily.
