Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar cinnamon (divided)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 6 - eggs, separated
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • FLUFFY LEMON FROSTING
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 cups powder sugar
  • 2 teaspoons lemon rind, grated
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • - dash of salt

How To Make lemon golden cake

  • Step 1
    sift together flour, 1 c. sugarbak. powder and salt in a small bowl. Make a well in center, add oil, egg yolks. water, lemon rind& juice.beat@ high 5 min or till smooth~ beat egg whites and cream of tarter @ room temp; add remaining sugar2T @ a time, 4 min. to soft peak, slowly pour yolk mixture in steady stream over entire surface of mixture, fold together gently, pour into greased tube pan; bake at 350 for 1 hour, invert and cool.

    (Frosting)Cream butter and sugar; add remaining ingd., beat till smooth. Spread over completely cooled cake
