This is a great frosting for your favorite lemon cake. You can use orange zest instead of lemon.

Ingredients

  • - 12 ounces cream cheese, chilled
  • - 1/4 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • - 2 cups powdered sugar
  • - 2 teaspoons lemon zest
  • - 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • - 3 tablespoons sour cream

How To Make lemon cream cheese frosting

  • Step 1
    In the bowl of a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, beat the cream cheese with the butter until thoroughly combined. Beat in the sugar and then the lemon zest, vanilla and sour cream.
  • Step 2
    Cover and refrigerate for about 30 minutes before using to frost cake. (will keep in an air tight containter in the refrigerator for one week).
