My mom always made this in the fall. What a way to come home from school to the wonderful aroma.

Ingredients

    sugar
  • 1 can(s)
    14-1/2 ounce can of applesauce
  • 2 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp
    allspice, ground
  • 1/2 c
    crisco shortening
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1 Tbsp
    baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    cloves, ground
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1/4 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • TOPPING

  • 1 can(s)
    14-1/2ounce unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tsp
    allspice, ground
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1/4 tsp
    cloves, ground
  • 1/4 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon

How to Make Lee's Applesauce Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Cream together sugar and Cisco. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well.
  3. Sift dry ingredients together.
  4. Add alternately with applesauce to sugar mixture.
  5. Pour into bundt pan and bake at 350 degrees until done (not sure how long, this was my Mom's recipe).
  6. For Topping: mix ingredients. Take a wooden spoon and poke holes in warm cake. Spread topping over warm cake.
