My mom always made this in the fall. What a way to come home from school to the wonderful aroma.

Ingredients

sugar
1 can(s)
14-1/2 ounce can of applesauce
2 c
all-purpose flour
1 tsp
cinnamon
1/4 tsp
allspice, ground
1/2 c
crisco shortening
1 tsp
vanilla
1 Tbsp
baking powder
1/4 tsp
cloves, ground
2
eggs
1/4 tsp
nutmeg
1/4 tsp
salt

TOPPING

1 can(s)
14-1/2ounce unsweetened applesauce
1 tsp
allspice, ground
3/4 c
sugar
1/4 tsp
cloves, ground
1/4 tsp
nutmeg
1 tsp
cinnamon

How to Make Lee's Applesauce Cake

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2Cream together sugar and Cisco. Add eggs and vanilla; mix well.
  • 3Sift dry ingredients together.
  • 4Add alternately with applesauce to sugar mixture.
  • 5Pour into bundt pan and bake at 350 degrees until done (not sure how long, this was my Mom's recipe).
  • 6For Topping: mix ingredients. Take a wooden spoon and poke holes in warm cake. Spread topping over warm cake.
