lavender cake with lavender glaze

This is so delicious, It has a very delicate flavor of Lavender and is so pretty. A few months ago I purchased dried Lavender from Penzeys spices, not thinking how much 4 oz would be when it came to Lavender I have a large bag of it. this afternoon I decided to experiment and see what I could come up with I made only a one layer cake since I had not tried this before. It turned out better than I expected and will be one of my favorites from now on.

Ingredients

  • CAKE
  • 1 box white cake mix
  • - lavender infused water
  • LAVENDER GLAZE
  • 2 cups sifted powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup lavender water
  • 1-2 - drops purple food coloring
  • LAVENDER INFUSED WATER
  • 4 cups boiling water
  • 2 tablespoons dried lavender

How To Make lavender cake with lavender glaze

  • Step 1
    To make Lavender water in a glass bowl add the lavender to the boiling water and let it sit for 2 hours, using a small wire mesh strainer pour water into another bowl or jar
  • Step 2
    Make cake as directed on the box substituting the liquid with Lavender water, Bake as you normally would
  • Step 3
    Remove cake from oven and cool, remove from pan and invert onto a platter. allow cake to cool completely, then drizzle the Lavender glaze over the top
  • Step 4
    **** I pour any left over lavender water into a container and place in the refrigerator, great for making pancakes or biscuits, just substitute the regular water that is called for in the recipe
