Ingredients

butter (softened)
2 c
sugar
4 medium
eggs
3 c
all purpose flour
1 tsp
salt
1 tsp
baking powder
1/2 tsp
baking soda
2 tsp
vanilla extract
1 c
buttermilk or sour milk

BUTTER SAUCE

1 c
sugar
1/4 c
hot water
1/2 c
butter
1 Tbsp
rum or vanilla flavoring

How to Make Kentucky butter cake

Step-by-Step

  • 1preheat oven to 350 degrees spray bundt pan or 10 inch tube pan with cooking spray.
  • 2In large bowl cream butter, gradually add the sugar, continue creaming until light and fluffy.Add eggs one at a time beating well after each,add remaining ingredients (except butter sauce)beat 2 minutes at medium speed.pour into prepared pan and bake for 60-65 minutes.until top springs back when lightly touched.
  • 3prepare butter sauce, in small pan combine sugar water and butter, heat until butter is melted (do not boil) remove from heat and stir in flavoring.
  • 4prick top of warm cake with a fork and slowly pour butter sauce over the top. cool cake completely before removing from pan.
