  • 2 1/4 c
    cake flour
  • 1 tsp
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    hershey cocoa powder
  • 2 1/4 c
  • 1 1/4 c
    cooking oil
  • 2
  • 1 c
    bulgarian buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    real vanilla
  • 1/2 to 3/4 oz
    red food coloring
  • 1 tsp
    white vinegar
  • 1/2 c
    freshly made warm coffee

  • 2 stick
    parkay margarine
  • 16 oz
    cream cheese
  • 3/4 tsp
    hershey cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp
    real vanilla
  • 32 oz
    powdered sugar

How to Make Kats Red Velvet Mocha Cake


  1. Preheat oven to 325 . Grease and flour 3 round cake pans.
  2. Whisk together : cake flour , salt , baking powder , baking soda and cocoa in medium bowl . Set this aside .
  3. In a large bowl mix sugar and cooking oil. Mix eggs into mixture one at a time until blended , stir in buttermilk , vanilla and food coloring until well blended. Now stir in coffee and vinegar.
  4. Combine your wet mixture with dry ingredients (mixing a little at a time ) until it is combined.
  5. Pour batter in pans evenly ( tap pans to release air bubbles ). Bake for about 35 to 40 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean .DO NOT OVERCOOK .
  6. Cool cakes on racks ,then loosen cakes on side and remove from pans to finish cooling before icing .
  7. Make sure cake is COMPLETELY cool before icing.
