Hot homemade doughnuts are yummy sometimes I do powder sugar and sometimes plain...The kids always liked them iced....I used to make a couple different icings that way they could pick what they wanted....The kids used to get in the kitchen and help me cut them because I would cook the holes too...

Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 large eggs slightly
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3 1/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1/8 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 cup buttermilk or sour milk

Step 1Preheat cooking oil in a Dutch Oven

Step 21. In a large bowl combine the flour, baking powder, salt, soda, and nutmeg. Set aside.

Step 32. In a separate bowl beat the eggs and sugar with a mixer.

Step 43. Stir in melted butter, add flour mixture and milk mixture until well-mixed cover, chill about 2 hours. Turn onto lightly floured surface board, roll out to 1/2 inch; cut with doughnut or biscuit cuttet and cut your holes. Fry in deep, hot grease (375*) 1 min per side or till golden on each side, turning once. Drain on paper towel. Shake in powder sugar or sugar cinnamon or how ever you like....
