Ingredients

3/4 cshortening

2 csugar

1 1/2 cboiling water

2 call purpose flour

2 tspbaking soda

1/2 tspsalt

1/2 ccocoa powder

2eggs, beaten

1 tspvanilla
How to Make Iowa Chocolate Cake
- Put shortening and sugar in mixing bowl and pour over the boiling water. Stir and mix.
- Sift dry ingredients twice and add to hot mixture.
- Then add eggs and vanilla. Batter will be thin.
- Bake in cake pan at 350 for about 25-30 minutes. A glass pan works best.
- Let cool and frost with chocolate frosting!
