Ingredients
- 3/4 cup shortening
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 cups boiling water
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 2 - eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
How To Make iowa chocolate cake

Step 1Put shortening and sugar in mixing bowl and pour over the boiling water. Stir and mix.

Step 2Sift dry ingredients twice and add to hot mixture.

Step 3Then add eggs and vanilla. Batter will be thin.

Step 4Bake in cake pan at 350 for about 25-30 minutes. A glass pan works best.

Step 5Let cool and frost with chocolate frosting!
