This is a very delicious cake. It is about like the Sock-It-To-Me Cakes of the 1970's.

Ingredients

  • 1 box
    yellow cake mix
  • 3/4 c
    vegetable oil
  • 1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 4 large
    eggs
  • 1 c
    sour cream
  • 3 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • FILLING

  • 1 c
    brown sugar
  • 4 Tbsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 c
    raisins (opt.)
  • ICING

  • 1 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • 4 Tbsp
    milk
  • 3 tsp
    pure vanilla extract

How to Make Honey Bun Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13 inch dish. In a mixing bowl, combine cake ingredients. Pour half into prepared dish. Combine sugar, cinnamon and raisins, if using. Sprinkle over batter. Swirl through with knife. Bake for about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  2. In a small bowl, sift powdered sugar. Whisk in milk, 1 tablespoon at time to make a thick or thin as you'd like. Add vanilla. Pour over cake as soon as you take it out of the oven. Serve warm.
