This is my husband's grandmother's recipe. It was handwritten on an index card, and the directions were very brief. I expect she knew pretty well how to make it without a recipe!

How to Make Holiday Fruitcake

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  • 2Sift flour and baking soda together.
  • 3Combine eggs, mincemeat, condensed milk, and fruit.
  • 4Fold in dry ingredients.
  • 5Pour into prepared pan (the original recipe didn't say what size - perhaps a loaf pan or a tube pan?).
  • 6Bake at 300 degrees for 2 hours.
