  • 1 1/2 c
    unsifted flour
  • 2/3 c
  • 3/4 c
    cold butter
  • 1 1/2 c
    semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 - 14 oz
    can eagle brand sweetened condensed milk
  • 1
  • 2 c
    almonds, toasted and chopped
  • 1 tsp
    solid shortening
  • 1/2 tsp
    almond extract

How to Make Holiday Chocolate Almond Bars


  1. Preheat oven to 350.

    Combine flour and sugar, cut in butter until crumbly. Press on bottom of 13 x 9 inch baking sheet. Bake 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
  2. Melt 1 cup chips with sweetened condensed milk; remove from heat. Cool slightly; beat in egg. Stir in almonds and extract. Spread over prepared crust.
  3. Bake 25 minutes or until set. Cool

    Melt remaining 1/2 cup chips with shortening; drizzle over bars. Chill 10 minutes or until set. Cut into bars.

    Store covered at room temperature.
