Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 package cake mix, chocolate fudge
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 6 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

How To Make ho ho cake

  • Step 1
    Combine the milk and cornstarch in a saucepan, and cook over medium heat until thickened, stirring constantly. Set aside and let cool at room temperature.
  • Step 2
    Prepare the cake mix as per directions for a 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake.
  • Step 3
    Cream sugar, shortening, and butter in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla and milk mixture. Spread over warm cake; let cool completely completely!
  • Step 4
    Combine 2 Tbsp. butter, and cocoa in a bowl; mix well. Add powdered sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla. Add 1/2 cup hot water and vanilla. Mix well.
  • Step 5
    Pour over cooled frosted cake. Chill in refrigerator until set.
