This recipe come from a 1920's cookbook. It's really good with fresh apples. Since this is apple season I thought you could use this great cake. I use Honey Crisp Apples when in season. Of course, any cooking apple will do. Even store bought apple sauce will do. It's so moist,no icing is necessary. I put this up there with my Best Carrot Cake Ever recipe and my Contest winning Rhubarb Coffee Cake. My friends and family love it. It's fabulous!
1Preheat oven 350 degrees. Grease a 9x13 baking pan.
In large bowl SIFT flour, sugar, salt, baking soda baking powder,and cinnamon.
In another bowl, mix with a mixer the oil, apple sauce and eggs. Pour mixture in the dry ingredients and mix with mixer until blended. Add nuts and stir. Pour into prepared pan. Bake 35 minutes. Cool and serve plain or with a very light dusting of powdered sugar.
