This recipe was handed down by my Mom. She used to bake it when she cooked for the local fire department in my hometown....just so good!!

  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 2 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 c
    butter or margarine
  • 1 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1
  • 1 c
    milk (can be 1%, 2% or whole milk)
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c
    walnuts, chopped
  • 6
    health bar candy bars, regular size, crushed but not too fine

How to Make Heath Bar Cake


  1. Preheat oven to 350. Grease 9 x 13 pan. Sift flour in bowl; add brown sugar; cut in butter (as you would if making pie crust). Reserve 1 CUP of this mixture and set aside.

    To the flour mixture, add baking powder, salt, egg, milk and vanilla and beat until well blended. Pour into your well greased 9 x 13 pan. Sprinkle the reserve 1 CUP crumbs, the chopped walnuts and the crushed health bar candy bars on top. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes. Let cool, cut into squares and top with Cool Whip.
