cocoa, unsweetened
1 1/2 tsp
baking soda
3/4 c
coffee, strong and cold


6 Tbsp
1 lb
powdered sugar, well sifted
3 Tbsp
cocoa, unsweetened
3 Tbsp
hazelnut liqueur
2 Tbsp
coffee, hot

How to Make Hazelnut Chocolate Cake with Frosting


  • 1Grease and flour two 9" cake pans; preheat oven to 350.
  • 2Separate eggs.
  • 3Beat egg whites until frothy; then beat in sugar until stiff peaks form and set aside.
  • 4Cream butter and brown sugar until fluffy; beat in yolks one at a time.
  • 5Sift flour, cocoa and baking soda together; add to creamed mixture alternately with coffee and hazelnut liqueur, blend well.
  • 6Fold egg whites into batter; pour into prepared pans and bake 30-35 minutes or until done.
  • 7Cool 10 minutes then invert on wire racks and remove pans; cool before frosting.
  • 8FROSTING: Cream butter with sugar; add everything else and beat until smooth.
