Ingredients

  • FOR THE CAKE
  • 1 cup Guinness stout
  • 10 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • TOPPING
  • 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 8 ounces whipped cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

How To Make guinness chocolate cake

  • Step 1
    To make the cake, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 9-inch springform pan and line it with parchment paper.
  • Step 2
    Combine the Guinness and butter in a saucepan. Cook until the butter is melted. Remove from heat. Add the cocoa and sugar. Set aside.
  • Step 3
    In another bowl combine the sour cream, eggs, and vanilla. Add the butter mixture. Mix in the flour and baking soda.
  • Step 4
    Pour into pan and bake for 45 to 50 minutes. Let cool.
  • Step 5
    To make the topping mix the confectioners' sugar, cream cheese, and heavy cream. Spread onto the top of the cake and serve.
