I love this cake. I forgot I had the recipe. My mom and aunt used to make this cake all the time. A member of my aunt's church used to make her make this cake for all their pot luck meals.

Ingredients

  • 1 c
    vegetable oil
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 3/4 tsp
    salt
  • 3/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2
    eggs
  • 2 c
    apples-peeled and diced
  • 1 c
    nuts-chopped (i use pecans)
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • ICING

  • 5 Tbsp
    flour
  • 2 stick
    butter
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • ***PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES***

How to Make Green Apple Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. In a medium bowl, combine oil, sugar, salt and baking soda. Add eggs, apples, nuts and vanilla. Pour mixture evenly into 3 round cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack.
  2. Mix the flour and milk. Cook in a medium sauce pan until very thick. Let cool completely. Cream the butter and sugar using a mixer. SLOWLY Add the flour/milk mixture to the butter/sugar mixture. Add vanilla and beat into mixture until fluffy. Ice the cooled cake layers.
