granny's never fail frosting
This icing is perfect for the "Granny's Famous Coconut Cake" posted by Cindy Allen. My grandmother was famous for all of her wonderful cakes. This is just one of the many that she would make for the family gatherings and for the holidays.

Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 egg whites, unbeaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 package frozen coconut
How To Make granny's never fail frosting

Step 1Combine all ingredients except vanilla in top of double boiler. Place on stove burner on med heat. Use mixer to stir.

Step 2Beat briskly for 3 minutes or until it is fluffy and holds it’s shape. (Sometimes 5-7 minutes)

Step 3Remove from stove top and add vanilla.

Step 4Ice cake and sprinkle with coconut. Enough icing for 2 (9inch) layers.
